What could be better than a night of fashion AND charity?
...a night of fashion, charity, and COCKTAILS!
Labels for Love, a DC-based non-profit, is hosting another District Sample Sale on February 28, 2007. If you missed the first one last summer, you MUST get tickets for this one...and get your tickets now! In my opinion, it was THE fashion event for DC in 2006. It was all the most fashionable women (and some men) in DC all gathered together for a night of shopping, cocktails, and hors d'oeurves...and all for a good cause.
Last summer I got an amazing deal on a high-waisted pencil skirt from Muleh, and a cute babydoll tunic from Lettie Gooch. Both were about 60% off. I made the mistake of thinking the cute DVF wrap and skirt that I saw as I walked in would still be there an hour later.
Lessons learned: act fast, cash is faster than plastic, and take one loop around the place first to scope everything out. DO NOT wait out for tickets at the door...last year there were over 400 women lined up outside the door and they did NOT all get in.
This year's event benefits SOME Place for Kids, which "provides an enrichment and nutrition program for children in need, as well as educational activities and structured recreation." Last year, the event raised $10,000 for Suited for Change, which "provides professional clothing and ongoing career education to low-income women who have completed job training and/or job readiness programs and are seeking employment."

Yes! DC has finally moved past the Hill-side polyester skirt suits and crackhead "boho"-look.
Thanks for your post--see you there!
